Starr’s Mill students Natalie Hauser and Camille Paxton were honored at a recent Rotary Club of Peachtree City luncheon. Both students were selected as the recipients of the Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA). The award consists of sponsored attendance to an intense leadership conference. The students attended the four day conference in Americus, Ga. along with hundreds of other Georgia high school students.

Through the granting of RYLA, a number of young people from different home backgrounds, educational backgrounds, religions and activities are brought together to work, learn, and discuss the problems of their generation.

The purpose of RYLA is to demonstrate Rotary's respect and concern for youth, encourage, assist and train selected youth leaders and potential leaders in responsible, effective leadership and recognize the high qualities of many young people who are rendering service to their communities as youth leaders.

“This was one of the best experiences of my life,” said Paxton. Hauser commented, “I wish I could go back next year.”
