Two new instructors will be joining The Fayette Art Center and Gallery this fall.

Beginning in September, Katherine Irwin Thomas will be teaching Irish Fiddle. She will be holding classes on the third Saturday of each month. The advanced beginners class, in which students must be capable of learning by ear in a group environment, will begin at 9 a.m. and a class for advanced players will be held at 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. Thomas has a bachelor of music education degree, a master’s education degree and an Irish traditional music teaching certificate from Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann in Dublin. She is also the founder and leader of the Atlanta Junior Ceili Band (AJCB ) which is composed of youth from the Metro-Atlanta area. The cost is $175 for the semester plus a $15 registration fee. Also beginning this fall, Kevin MacKenzie will be teaching animation concepts and applications after school on Tuesdays at 4 p.m. He will be introducing flash, the computer program for animation. This class is for students 11 years and older. He will also be starting a Saturday morning class in September, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. This Saturday class will be geared for teenagers. The cost is $35 per class (drop in) or four classes (one month) for $90. Class size is limited.

Saturday afternoon MacKenzie will work with younger kids, ages 8-10, on basic drawing. This class runs from 2-3 p.m. and the cost is $25 per drop-in session or $80 for a month.
