The Kedron Village shopping center is missing two key elements that were conditions of the city's original approval for the site.
Missing are two traffic lights that the city required the original developer to install: one at Ga. Highway 74 and Georgian Park and the other at Peachtree Parkway on the entrance drive that leads to the Kroger store.
The shopping center has since changed hands, and now city officials are working with the current owner to get the lights erected to better control traffic.
The shopping center has been in the limelight for a while as its impending expansion will include a big box Target store, which drew quite a bit of scrutiny as it's expected to draw many more shoppers to the area than the current setup brings.
When the Planning Commission approved the conceptual site plan for the shopping center in 1995 one of the conditions was that the developer install the traffic lights "if and when traffic warrants indicate."
