The recent census adjustment
resulted in some additional funding for the agency. With that new money
FSS is now able to offer a much-needed new service to seniors and their
families in Fayette County.
FSS recently entered into a
contract with Sarah's Adult Day Services, Inc., to provide daycare
for Fayette seniors in need. Sarah's is a daytime program designed
to help families take care of their loved ones as an alternative to nursing
home placement. The center offers programs for those with physical impairments,
dementia to include Alzheimer's, strokes, Parkinson's disease,
special diets, incontinency problems, isolation and loneliness, and developmental
disabilities.
There are customized activity
programs to include the Men's Club, therapeutic services, intergenerational
programming, beauty and barbershops, bathing services and physical activities.
Registered nurses and/or family
nurse practitioners, licensed social workers, registered activity coordinators,
state tested nurse aids and licensed dieticians staff the center.
Transportation is available
on a sliding scale for those families who are unable to transport their
loved ones to the center.
