The Knight

Group, a Jonesboro-based home builder and developer, was included in the

Atlanta Business Chronicle's annual "Book of Lists," which was

published on Dec. 22, 2000.

In the publication,

The Knight Group was rated No. 22 in the list of "Atlanta's Top 25

Home Builders." The ranking was based on the number of permits issued

during the previous year.

The Knight

Group, formerly known as Knight Development, is a family business and

has earned numerous awards for building quality and customer service in

recent years. During the 1990s, the company was a consistent winner of

Professionalism Awards in the annual competition, bringing home two of

these awards in 1992, five in 1995, one in 1997, two in 1998, and one

in 1999. One more Professionalism Award was earned in 2000.

The Knight

Group has a history going back to 1973, when brothers Perry and Scott

Knight started framing houses for builders in the Metro South area. They

began building homes in the late 1970s. Perry's son Jay, who joined the

firm in 1982, now serves as president of The Knight Group, which currently

builds over 250 homes a year. Scott's son Chris, who joined the company

in 1998, is now vice president.
