The popular

senior program "Aging in Georgia" will be expanding its horizons

and viewing audience in the near future.

The program,

which recently celebrated a one-year anniversary, has been shown exclusively

in the Coweta area on Newnan Utilities Channel 10. In 2001 it will be

expanding the program coverage area to include Fayette, Clayton and Fulton

counties.

Additionally,

Regions Banks' Heritage Club coordinato, Nancy Price will team up with

Gina Weathersby to co-host the Fayette show.

"I am

really excited about the opportunity to co-host 'Aging in Georgia' in

Fayette County. I have been a guest host on the Coweta County show several

times and working with Gina Weathersby has been a delight," said

Price.

"The show

encompasses a lot of the issues and topics that I already deal with in

my job as Heritage Club Coordinator for Regions Bank. This will be just

one more opportunity to reach the senior market in an informative (as

well as interesting and fun) format.

"I think

Fayette County is definitely prime for a show such as this because of

the large retirement population, and I hope they embrace the local programming

as Coweta County has."

In the near

future, viewers will see some "exciting" programming changes,

according to Weathersby. She and Coweta County co-host Tamela Ragsdale

have plans to involve more children from the community in the programs,

offer more frequent "on-location" taping of programs outside

of the studio and involve older adults in the community for special projects

and programs.

The program,

which currently airs Monday through Saturday at 11:30 a.m., 4:30 p.m.

and 7:30 p.m., is geared toward the older adult population, although according

to Weathersby, "Much of the information relates to all ages. It is

our goal to have our guests educate views on topics that an older adult

may be dealing with or may deal with at some point in the future."

Some of the

topics discussed on the show have included health care, financial, emotional

and legal needs of seniors. Medicare, Medicaid, hospice care, in-home

care and assisted living have also been the focus of the enjoyable educational

shows.

The costs of

the programs are covered by partnering advertisers. Some of sponsors thus

far are Wesley Woods of Newnan-Peachtree City, Beauleau Convalescent Center

and Regions Bank. With the expansion of the program into other counties,

the hosts are hoping to attract area sponsors.

The program

was started by Weathersby and Ragsdale, two well-known and respected senior

advocates. The pair have both worked in a variety of health care facilities

and roles and have a true commitment to improving the lives of seniors.

"Aging

in Georgia" incorporates fun and caring into the shows, making learning

about sometimes difficult subjects easier to grapple with.

Weathersby

stated, "It is a true blessing to be able to offer important information

on a weekly basis that I truly believe will make a big difference in the

lives of older adults and their family members. I have walked in the shoes

of "the family caregiver" and understand the importance of receiving

accurate information."
