ENG announced
its new name, Avaya, in June. Sept. 30, Avaya's spin-off from Lucent was
officially complete.
During the
open house, Sophia Williams, Avaya's national vice president of customer
care centers, spoke about the spin and the company's mission to provide
businesses with end-to-end electronic business communications solutions
like call centers, messaging, wireless and converged networking.
"We are
excited to have our customer care headquarters here and to be a part of
Peachtree City's booming economy," said Williams. "Avaya, as
a new company, has a tremendous opportunity to focus its resources on
enabling businesses to succeed in the 'e-business' age."
More than 50
Peachtree City business representatives and city officials attended the
open house that included a catered lunch and music by a harpist.
Avaya employs
more than 700 people in Georgia. Headquartered in Basking Ridge, N.J.,
the firm is a leading provider of communications systems for enterprises,
including businesses, government agencies and other organizations. Avaya
