* The 2001 Atlanta Indoor Championships

soccer tournament will be held for the 13th consecutive year at The Soccer

Centre in Fayetteville. The tournament is for boys and girls teams from

Under 8- Under 19 with separate divisions for Classic, Premier, Athena,

Recreational and High School teams. The competition will begin Dec. 27

and end Jan. 1, 2001 with different age groups playing on different dates.

Older age groups will utilize the famous Futbol Rapido format. All players

will receive tickets to The Atlanta Silverbacks home opener in April.

* Tryouts for the Sharpsburg

Cyclones girls fast pitch softball team will start in October in preparation

for the 2001 traveling season. The Cyclones will play 16 and under fast

pitch softball. You must be 16 or less as of Jan. 1, 2001.

The tryouts

are at Whitlock Park in Sharpsburg. Whitlock Park is just east of the

Yamaha plant on Ga. Highway 34, next to the soccer fields on the north

side of the road. They will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 8, and continue

for the next two Sundays at 2 p.m. Oct. 15 and 22.
