The 2000

summer season for the Frederick Brown Jr. Amphitheater is

tentatively scheduled to begin April 21, it was reported

at last week's regular monthly meeting of the Development

Authority of Peachtree City.

Dates for

the entire summer schedule are now being considered,

according to amphitheater director Kristi Rapson, and a

number of performers have been approached about appearing

next year. A contract on the first weekend of

performances could be finalized soon, she said.

The

surveys, completed by amphitheater patrons the final

month of the 1999 season, are still being compiled. This

is slow work because there are several hundred and they

are filled out by hand. Results from the surveys will

help determine which performers are invited to return in

future seasons as well as what other steps can be taken

to improve the overall quality of the shows.

The

Peachtree City Tennis Center reported October revenues of

about $61,000, which is probably the facility's best

month ever, director Virgil Christian reported. Expenses

for the month were about $50,000, which can be favorably

compared to the same month in 1998, when revenues were

$51,000 and expenses added up to $64,000.

The

Peachtree National Bank Women's Challenger professional

tennis tournament is slated for July 10-16 next year,

Christian said. This is one week earlier than it has been

in previous years.

Preliminary

work continues on the expansion and renovation of the

locker rooms at the Tennis Center. After a brief

discussion, a motion was passed by the Development

Authority to proceed with the project.

The annual

Christmas luncheon hosted by the Development Authority in

downtown Atlanta is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 7, at the

Marriott Marquis. This event serves as a kind of

"thank you" to the many organizations based in

Atlanta that work with the Development Authority

throughout the year.
