It is

becoming kind of a common occurrence, but the Landmark

Christian War Eagles boys cross country squad have run

well again. Racing at the Sandy Creek Invitational

against over 20 other schools in the championship

division, Landmark had enough to edge out Lakeside by

seven points and win their first championship team

victory of the season.

The first

finisher for the War Eagles was Kyle Rabbit, who finished

third overall with a time of 14:51.8. Rabbit was followed

Kosiba placed sixth overall with a time of 15:29.2.

Landmark's third finisher was Blake Fertita. Fertita,

usually the fifth finisher for the Wart Eagles, placed

20th overall with a time of 16:07.1. Rounding out the top

five were sophomores Clark Rivers and Eric Sumner. Rivers

finished 23rd with a time of 16:13.4, while Sumner placed

34th with a time of 16:31.4.

The Fayette

County boys qualified for the state meet, putting forth a

great effort in the championship division. To qualify for

the state meet, teams are required to run an average of

17:34 per top five runners for the 3,1 mile race. The

Tigers placed 15th out of 26 teams, with Tre Alverson

placing first for the time with a 21st place finish with

a time of 16:08. Rounding out the top five for the Tigers

were Blake Riley (65), Jon Riley (70), AdamPekarske (87),

and Andrew Husack (97).

The Fayette

County girls ran well in the girls championship division

and have a new record to show for it. Jessica Tyre led

the girls finishing 21st with a new school record of

19:32. Tyre was followed by Clarinda Phillips (79),

Rachel Swafford (89), Taryn Kendall (97), and Jessica

Kohlmeyer (104). The girls team placed 14th out of 21

teams. They raced yesterday at the LaGrange Invitational.

McIntosh

did not run at the Sandy Creek meet this past weekend.

They ran in a national meet in Charlotte against some of

the top programs in the country. Coach Charles buckle

signed the team up after last year, hoping that the team

would be in the same form. So far this year, the McIntosh

Lady Chiefs are still ranked number one in AAAA but there

are several injuries plaguing the team. It was those

injuries that kept the team from being majorly

competitive on Saturday. There were no official results

available when the paper went to press.
