Beautification Committee makes plans, elects leaders
The
Peachtree City Beautification Committee unanimously
elected Annette Bowman and David Rast as their cochairmen
at last week's August meeting.
Bowman is a
landscape designer with Estes-Landers Landscape Design
Inc. Rast is a city planner for Peachtree City.
Committee
members also approved the expenditure of $90 for 2,000
pine seedlings for the January tree planting. The city's
recreation and public works departments will be reviewing
possible areas for planting to help reforest areas that
are currently mowed.
The
committee approved a $150 grant to master gardener Julie
Peterson for additional plantings at the Georgia Native
Plant Garden in front of the Frederick Brown Jr.
Amphitheater. Development of a master plan for
landscaping and irrigation for the entire entry to the
amphitheater was discussed.
Members
agreed that pansies should be planted in October at the
Peachtree City civic sign at the intersection of Ga.
highways 54 and 74. Possible planting materials were
discussed for the planters at the support bases of the
Hwy. 54 bicycle bridge.
The
committee also will begin working on a series of master
plans for the continuing enhancement of public lands
throughout the city.
The
Beautification Committee meets third Mondays at 6:30 p.m.
in the Peachtree City Library. Residents interested in
participating in the landscaping and beautifying of
public lands are welcome to attend.
