"Every year we put out a list of Scriptures for each day,"

said church secretary Carol Walls. "Volunteers pick a scripture,

write a devotional, and turn it in by a certain date."

"These four weeks of worship, prayer and rereading of the

story of Jesus' birth will renew in us the joy of this season," reads

the booklet's introduction. "As you worship, you will find the

true meaning of Christmas and the true spirit of the Christ Child."

The church has published the Advent booklets for at least

the past 10 or 12 years, said the Rev. Dr. William Scarbrough,

pastor. "This is just one of the ways we celebrate Advent in our

church," he noted.

Featured authors in this year's booklet are Cynthia

Herndon, Barbara Hood, Alan and Kathy Tingle, Joann Turner,
