Starr’s Mill, McIntosh journalists win Press Association awards

Local student journalists continue racking up the accolades for their work. Recently, a total of nine journalists earned 12 honors at the Georgia Scholastic Press Association Spring Awards.

The Prowler, the online newspaper of Starr’s Mill High, was represented by five student-journalists in multiple categories.

Daniel Stackhouse won an All-Georgia Award for Caption Writing, a Superior Award for COVID-19 Coverage, and a Superior Award for Sports Feature. Annika Pepper won an All-Georgia Award for Photo Essay and a Superior Award for Sports Photography. Rachel Laposka won a Superior Award for Commentary. Mary Jane Gagliano won a Superior Award for News Podcast. Abby Carter won a Superior Award for Sports Game Coverage.

The Prowler (theprowlernews.org) is led by advisor Justin Spencer.

The McIntosh Trail, the student news site of McIntosh High, was represented by four winners.

Chisom Ugbahja won a Superior Award for Social Justice Reporting, Jordyn Mobley won a Superior Award for Sports Photography, Chris Tun won a Superior Award for News Photography, and Izzy Pullias won an All-Georgia Award for Feature Photography.
