It didn’t take long Monday evening for Peachtree City’s planning commission to sign off on a plan allowing TDK to build a 36,823 square foot addition for extra warehouse and shipping space.

The company will use similar exterior materials to match the existing exterior, and no additional parking will be necessary for the site.

TDK will build a new service and loading area off the existing service drive to provide access to the building from the rear.

The expansion will serve to consolidate existing TDK space, allowing the elimination of an off-site warehouse facility a short distance away on Ga. Highway 74.

The commission got its first look at the expansion plan last month, and it was noted at that time that no outstanding issues remained to be addressed.

The conceptual site plan approval came with three conditions including a requirement to coordinate with the city engineer to make sure the stormwater management plan meets the city’s post-construction stormwater management ordinance. The plan includes construction of a new detention pond to handle the stormwater created by the additional impervious surface, according to architect Jim Finney.

TDK’s campus is located off Ga. Highway 74 at the intersection of TDK Boulevard. Its main product is ceramic chip capacitors, which are used in the production of a variety of electronic devices including cell phones and automobile systems.
