Independence Day celebrations also in Fayetteville, Tyrone —
A variety of July 4 events will be held on Saturday in Tyrone, Fayetteville and Peachtree City.
In Peachtree City, the “Free the 4th” protest will be held at Drake Field.
The freethe4th.com website says the event at Drake Field will be an all-day event.
The Free the 4th listing on Facebook said the event will be held from 4-10 p.m.
According to the organizers, “Due to the guidelines and restrictions imposed by the state of Georgia regarding the Covid-19 pandemic, our community is prohibited from having a sanctioned gathering on Independence Day 2020. In order to ensure our community can have our annual celebration, we are protesting the postponement of the firework celebration.
“This ‘protest’ is completely apolitical in nature and is designed to simply enable members of our community to lawfully gather on this Independence Day. We take no position on any political, religious or economic issues that are current or have been in the news as of late. Please be respectful of everyone’s right to ‘protest’ and please exercise common courtesy and social distancing etiquette.”
Organizers Jonathan Walker and Thomas Crews said the necessary steps have been taken to ensure the protest is safe for all ages.
“We have been in close contact with local officials and local police throughout this process. Drake Field has been secured for the entirety of Independence Day 2020,” they said.
On the protest Facebook page as of July 2, 330 people said they were interested and 54 indicated they would attend the event.
Peachtree City Police Chief Janet Moon said no streets will be closed for event.
Tyrone will have a 4th of July Faith and Freedom Concert at Shamrock Park on Senoia Road beginning at 7 p.m.
Sponsored by Marcum Music Ministries, the event is free and is being set up to accommodate social distancing.
Also on July 4, American Legion members of Fayette County Post 105 at 11 p.m. will be gathering in front of the Log Cabin on South Glynn Street in downtown Fayetteville to celebrate Independence Day.
Since local parades and other patriotic holiday events have been cancelled, these military veterans have taken it upon themselves to turn out in a show of patriotism to wave their American flags to all that pass by. Free American flags will be handed out to everyone that wants one, Post 105 said.
Turns out China infected 100,000 of its own citizens and then sent them here to spread it. I’m pretty sure Obama was in on it too.I saw it on Fox news so it’s got to be true.
Careful, we got a brainwashed conservative here.
May God bless and save our country. To our veterans of all wars, I sincerely thank you for your service to our country. For the veterans of all wars from 1776 forward who are no longer with us, I pray our Eternal Father’s blessings upon their souls.
100% support for these super spreader events, like our dear President’s rallies in Oklahoma South Dakota and tonight in Washington DC. CoVID19 loves low hanging fruit like these events to expand the raging pandemic that is ongoing throughout America. If we haven’t learned important lessons about protecting ourselves by the deaths of over 130,000 Americans since February 2020; maybe that lesson needs to be reinforced with the the deaths of another 200,000 or 300,00. Either way science prevails, with or without your participation in our community’s control and prevention efforts. Happy Birthday America.
It’s a hoax anyway and science shmience what do they know? Bunch a doctor’s with their book learnin n stuff.Aint no one gonna mess with my rights!!!!
“Hoax” Ah yes, I wonder how 160,000 people have died…..
I wish I was in town to support the liberty and freedom loving citizens of Peachtree City. Freedom is worth fighting for, especially these days. Please remember to assemble peaceably and socially safely. Good luck.
All for the Fayetteville Veterans, but as far as the Peachtree City “protest”? I think the world has gone absolutely crazy. What on earth has happened. Sometimes we just need to suck some things up and move on. Protesting everything under the sun negates the impact of any protest. Pick your battles.
The organizers Mr. (s) Walker and Crews are taking a protest stand on suspended fireworks display? How sad that their fortitude wavers after a mere 3-month challenge. My guess is they would have sided with the Tories back in the day because taking a stand with the Whigs would have required some on-going major sacrifices. Their sacrifices lasted eight years and then some. Lest we forget.
This is wonderful !!
