The area along Ga. Highway 85 just south of the Fayette Pavilion will soon see the beginnings of a second new restaurant approved by the Fayetteville Planning and Zoning Commission in the past few months.

The old Bugaboo Creek restaurant site will soon be demolished to make way for an Olive Garden restaurant. Commissioners in late April also approved a LongHorn Steakhouse one block to the south at the site of the former Johnny Carino’s restaurant.

The 7,537 square-foot Olive Garden will seat 246 patrons and will include 123 parking spaces. The Bugaboo Creek building will be demolished to meet the design characteristics of the corporate prototype, according to development plans.

The proposal for the building’s exterior includes simulated stone and tile roofing with a pitched roof design and Italian-style architecture.

The new building will occupy a similar footprint as the existing structure with similar lot orientation. The demolition will include the removal of the existing building, sidewalks surrounding the structure, parking lot and some of the related utilities. Also, site lighting will be replaced to conform to Olive Garden and city standards.

Plans for the new 6,242 square-foot LongHorn Steakhouse were approved by commissioners on April 26. The new 242-seat restaurant will be located approximately one block south of the Olive Garden location.

Demolition work began immediately and construction of the new building is well underway.

Darden Restaurants is the owner of the Olive Garden and the LongHorn Steak House chains. The company also owns other restaurant chains such as Red Lobster, The Capital Grille, Bahama Breeze and Seasons 52.
