Herobox of Tyrone is asking the public to participate in its “Send the Brave to the Braves” promotion.

There is now a waiting list of service members hoping to go to Monday afternoon’s Atlanta Braves game against the San Diego Padres.

To contribute, visit http://www.herobox.org/braves.asp and select the option to purchase a discounted ticket for a service member. There is also an option to purchase tickets for others.

A non-profit based in Tyrone, Herobox was formed to help support deployed American service members by mailing special customized care packages to them.

Herobox allows service members to request specific items, and it helps the American public with a way to directly support the troops, according to its website.

The Herobox initiative has drawn significant notoriety, including recognition at the 2009 Major League Baseball All-Star Game. Herobox has also received grant contributions from notable corporations such as Home Depot, Google and Chase bank.
