Pinewood Atlanta Studios in Fayetteville is expected to be the primary site for the filming of “Suicide Squad 2” directed by James Gunn in his sequel to the DC Comics movie.
According to HN Entertainment, the stage location is where Gunn previously shot “Guardians of The Galaxy Vol.2” and is expected to shoot “Guardians of The Galaxy Vol.3” there as well, once he is finished with “The Suicide Squad.”
With filming expected to begin this month, HN Entertainment said Warner Bros. gave the film an August 2021 release date.
This would give the sequel to “Suicide Squad” movie two years to complete filming and post-production, considering Gunn has filmed each “Guardians of the Galaxy” movie in the same amount of time, with the last “Guardians” film filming in Pinewood Atlanta Studios, said projectcasting.com
The returning cast includes Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, and Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag. The new additions are reportedly Idris Elba, Daniela Melchior as Ratcatcher, David Dastmalchian as Polka-Dot Man, John Cena, and possibly Storm Reid as Elba’s daughter, according to HN Entertainment.
No movie is made 100% in the studio. Much of the work is overseas.
We never hear what the impact is on Fayette, but we do know Fayetteville benefits the most.
