Red Clay Festival brings storytellers to Fayette Friday, Saturday

The 2nd annual Red Clay Festival is scheduled for Friday, May 3, and Saturday, May 4.

The Red Clay Festival is a spoken word and storytelling festival dedicated to bringing some of the best storytellers and spoken word performers from around the country to Fayette County.

On Friday, The Fayette Chamber, is sponsoring a workshop, Storycrafting 101: Crafting Strong Stories for Business and Leadership. Facilitated by storyteller and trainer, Anthony Vinson, the workshop will guide participants through the process of crafting stronger, more impactful stories to communicate, sell, and promote their businesses, as well also to educate, inform, and inspire their associates and employees. Time: Friday, May 3, 11:00 AM – 1:30 PM. Location: 600 West Lanier Avenue, Suite 205. Fees: $25 for Members & $35 for Non-Members.

On Saturday, the festival will open in Brooks, Georgia, with storytelling workshops and performances throughout the day from 10:30 – 5:00. An evening show will follow from 7:00 – 9:00. All Saturday daytime and early evening shows are family-friendly.

Storytellers Adam Booth and Cynthia Rintye are this year’s featured performers.

Adam Booth has been featured at the International Storytelling Center, the National Storytelling Festival, the Appalachian Studies Association Conference, the National Storytelling Conference, the National Academy of Medicine, and has been a Spoken Word Resident at the Banff Centre (Alberta). He is a member of the Recording Academy and his recordings have received two Parents’ Choice Silver Honors and four Storytelling World Awards and Honors. He is a four-time champion of the West Virginia Liars’ Contest.

Cynthia Rintye has captivated audiences on the Lawrenceville Ghost Tours since 2005.  A longtime entertainer, she has performed sketch comedy and appeared in plays, musicals, and murder mysteries around Atlanta.  For 16 seasons, Cynthia worked with the Georgia Renaissance Festival where she was assistant entertainment director, scriptwriter, and portrayed the Queen. As a storyteller, her credits include Peach State Storytelling Festival, Stone Soup Storytelling Festival, Classic City Fringe Festival, and Spirits & Spirits: Ghost Stories for Adults at the Aurora Theatre.

On Saturday night the festival will move to Big Shots Kitchen and Bar, located at 102 B Guthrie Way (off Hwy 74) in Peachtree City, for a 10 pm show titled Red Clay Risqué. Red Clay Risqué is an adult-oriented show, with R-rated language and adult themes. Nothing too naughty, just not for kids. Red Clay Risqué performers are Chetter Galloway, Debbie From, and Anthony Vinson. 

The Red Clay Festival is a production of Fayette Story, Inc, a 401(C)3 nonprofit organization, headquartered in Peachtree City. The Red Clay Festival is presented by Women’s Medical Center sponsored by a variety of Fayette County businesses, including the Fayette Chamber, Suds on the Square, Country Fried Creative, Dirt1x, Minuteman Press of PTC, and others.
