I am a 14-year-old Boy Scout in Peachtree City. I am writing in support of the SPLOST for Fayette County.
A SPLOST will share the tax burden with anyone who shops or dines in Fayette County. It will take some of the burden from residents that already pay a high property tax. I believe this added sales tax will benefit me in several ways.
First, I live near the Crosstown and Peachtree Parkway intersection and I have seen the traffic congestion there for years. The SPLOST would make this intersection flow during peak hours.
I also use the golf cart paths and know they need some renovations. I would specifically like to see a tunnel under Redwine Road to be used by students driving their carts to Starr’s Mill High School. I would use this myself.
I also know how much my parents and sister complain about the 54/74 intersection, and I would like to see more funds available to fix this problem.
If I could vote, I would vote YES on March 21, and I hope others will do the same.
