A Dec. 26 armed robbery at the Piccadilly Cafeteria in Fayetteville ended minutes later with the robber dropping the money in the parking lot.
Fayetteville Police Department spokesman Mike Whitlow said the robbery occurred during the morning hours at the Piccadilly Cafeteria on North Glynn Street.
A man, for whom a description was not immediately available, entered the cafeteria as it opened and asked if the store was hiring. The man was told to come back later, Whitlow said.
The man returned a short time later and, with a handgun in his possession, demanded money, said Whitlow, adding that store employees complied with the demand.
The man exited the cafeteria but dropped the money in the parking lot as he fled the location.
