Looking for something for the kids to do while they are out of school for the holiday break? Why not ask them to describe how saving for college has made or will make a difference in their lives? It will not only get them thinking about their future, it could win them money to help them continue their education.
The Path2College 529 Plan has launched its Saving for College Makes a Difference Essay Contest, where nine Georgia Path2College 529 Plan account owners or beneficiaries will be awarded $529 for their original essays describing how saving for college has made, or will make, a difference in your loved one’s life, your life or your family’s lives. Entries are open to all Path2College 529 Plan account owners and beneficiaries age 16 and older, residing in Georgia.
“As of Sept. 30, more than 137,000 Path2College 529 Plan accounts have been established for current or future college students, and we want to hear what that means to them and their family,” said Mitch Seabaugh, executive director of the Path2College 529 Plan. “Their words will hopefully inspire others to save, which will help more children achieve their dreams.”
For as little as $25, parents, grandparents, relatives and friends can open or contribute to a Path2College 529 Plan account, and contributions have tax advantages for gift givers, as well as those who are using the funds for qualified education expenses.
