The time for the intergovernmental agreement (IGA) to be signed for the much-addressed 2017 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) is here. The Peachtree City Council will consider the adoption on Dec. 1.

The measure will go before voters countywide in a March 21 special election. The IGA among all the municipalities is required prior to county commissioners calling for the election.

If adopted by voters, the six-year SPLOST is expected to generate a maximum of $141 million. Peachtree City would realize $45.473 million to fund a wealth of projects.

A breakdown of city projects shows:

• Roads and Streets Resurfacing/ Maintenance – $29.62 million

• Multi-Use Path Resurfacing and Extensions – $9.56 million

• Public Safety – $3.32 million

• Parks and Recreation – $1.02 million

• Dam/Spillway Enhancements – $1.95 million

• Tier 2 Projects – $6.567 million

Also in the IGA, a breakdown of the percentage of revenue receipts on a per capita basis shows unincorporated Fayette County receiving 46.84 percent, Peachtree City receiving 32.247 percent, Fayetteville with 14.962 percent, Tyrone with 6.455 percent and Brooks at .492 percent.

Also at the meeting, the council will consider a one-time, flat-rate pay incentive for all full-time and part-time city employees.

City Manager Jon Rorie is recommending a $300 pre-tax incentive for full-time employees with an estimated cost of $69,300 for 231 positions and a $150 incentive for the 65 part-time positions. The total impact on the 20017 budget would be approximately $79,000.

The council on Dec. 1 will also consider stormwater-related ordinance amendments.
