Newnan police are searching for a man suspected in what was reported recently as an attempted abduction of a young girl. Police on Nov. 29 released a sketch of the possible attempted kidnapping suspect and are asking for the community’s assistance in locating him and his vehicle.

The suspect was described as white male, 25-27 years of age, taller than 5’9” in height with a skinny build.

Officers on Nov. 22 were dispatched to an address on Pinson Street in reference to a report of an attempted child abduction.

Once at the scene, officers were told that a white male attempted to abduct a young female from the front of her residence, according to Sgt. Jim Beneke.

The child’s father saw the suspect talking with his young daughter and approached the man, Beneke said. As he did so, the man grabbed the child by her coat and started to walk toward his vehicle, said Beneke.

“The father was able to get his child away,” Beneke said. “During the confrontation, the suspect was struck several times in the facial area. The suspect then got into his car and fled the scene heading south toward MLK, Jr. Drive.”

The vehicle was described as a black four-door Honda with “older paint” and with a white or silver pin-stripe along the side of the vehicle from front to back. The vehicle’s right rear tire may be a “doughnut” or missing a hubcap, reports said.

Anyone with information on the suspect or vehicle is asked to contact Sgt. Jim Beneke at 770-254-2355, ext. 117.
