The newly created position of assistant chief of police in Peachtree City is held by former Capt. Stan Pye, who has served in various capacities in the police department for more than 25 years.
“Assistant Chief Stan Pye is an accomplished law enforcement professional with 30 years of progressive experience in public service and police activities. He has proven himself to be a leader with strong management skills,” said Police Chief Janet Moon. “Assistant Chief Pye has served the citizens of Peachtree City for over 25 years.”
Department Public Information Officer Odilia Bergh said Pye was promoted to sergeant in 1995, to lieutenant in 1996, and to captain in 1997. During those years Pye was responsible for the management, oversight, planning, organization, budget, personnel development, training, performance evaluations and disciplinary actions within this organization.
“During a challenging period when the organization’s leadership was in turmoil, Assistant Chief Pye maintained continuity, agency standards, and led the organization through a comprehensive and successful re-accreditation process in 2015,” Moon said.
Bergh said Pye founded a toy donation program that has raised food and toys for over 100 needy children during the holidays.
In other roles, Pye initiated and implemented the Citizen Police Academy (CPA), Junior Police Academy (JPA), Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) adult and teen CERT programs, engaging thousands of citizens and developing strong community partnerships, said Bergh.
Pye is a graduate of the Columbus State Command College Program, Chief Executive Training, a graduate of the 75th Class of the Southern Police Institute Command Officer’s Development Course and holds over 5,000 hours of professional development training. His awards are abundant and include, Commendation of Merit 2015, Supervisor of the Year 2014, and District Attorney’s Award for Overcoming Adversity 2015, among others, Bergh said.
