Have you ever tried to do something good for a group or an individual, only to have it backfire? Tyrone’s Hopewell United Methodist Church will host a short-term Sunday afternoon seminar series based on Robert Lupton’s book entitled “Toxic Charity.” The focus of the book is on learning how to do good without inadvertently doing harm.

The series will begin on Sunday, Sept. 11, at 4 p.m., and will continue for a total of five weeks. Each week, after a brief introduction, participants will break into small groups to consider Lupton’s arguments and explore how they might be relevant to organizations and individuals locally.

Participants need to purchase the book prior to Sept. 6. Purchase it for $8.50 from the church office or obtain a copy online.

The program is open to the public. Anyone interested in attending may contact the church office at 770-306-7537 or by email at [email protected].

The church is located at 351 Jenkins Road, across from Sandy Creek High.
