Rebecca H. Barbel, 73

Rebecca H. Barbel, 73, passed on to be with the Lord Jesus, Monday, July 12, 2016.

She was united in marriage to Daniel M. Barbel who preceded her in death on March 9, 2009. They were married for over 44 years.

Rebecca was born May 10, 1943, in Millen, Ga., and was the youngest child of Rufus Lester and Maxie Lanier Hooks. She graduated from Jenkins County High School where she was an all-state basketball player. After high school she moved to Savannah, Ga., and attended business school. After marrying Daniel, they moved to Atlanta and then to Fayetteville, Ga., where she lived for over 40 years. She started working for McDonnell Douglas at the Atlanta airport and continued there after Boeing bought McDonnell Douglas for over 35 years. She obtained many recognitions and awards while working at Boeing.

Becky was an outstanding golfer and routinely won golfing events against her male friends, including her husband. Becky had a great, dynamic personality and enjoyed playing pranks on her friends.

Becky will be greatly missed by her neighbors, friends, and relatives.

A celebration of Becky’s life will be held Saturday, July 23, 2016, at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville – www.mowellfuneralhome.com.
