The Fayetteville City Council at its Nov. 19 meeting approved the hire of a consultant group to pursue a Livable Centers Initiative (LCI) supplemental grant that will focus on re-development in three targeted commercial areas.
Atlanta-based Urban Collage will assist city staff on re-development options for some of the city’s older commercial areas such as the 692 Shopping Center, the Fayette Place commercial center on North Glynn Street and the reportedly underutilized Market Place commercial site on Ga. Highway 54, part of the Villages at Lafayette development.
Urban Collage was one of five firms interviewed for the consultant service. Urban Collage’s price is $60,000, with Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) supplying half the funding. The city will put up $24,000 with the three primary property owners contributing a total of $6,000.
City staff will work out the final contract details of the request that was sent to ARC and will begin working with consultants on a time frame to complete the study project. Staff said they anticipate beginning work with the consultants by early December. Work on the study should be completed by May 31.
