Mission Possible youth volunteers from Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Peachtree City worked hard to help change lives in Haiti on last month. Eleven volunteers cleaned and recycled many donated tools from the ‘Tools For Empowerment’ Trick-or-Treat For Tools campaign. Young vocational graduates in Haiti receive these refurbished tools.
A huge influx of donated tools came from First Presbyterian, St. George’s in Newnan, Holy Trinity, and Church of Christ as well as a large number of retail drop points in Peachtree City.
Vocational graduates in Haiti are able to get a good education in trade skills thanks to the Salesian Missions vocational schools. But most graduate with no tools and they are expensive to buy locally so they have no opportunity for employment.
Receiving a tool kit enables the graduates to either get a job or start their own enterprise. These Haitian youth go from perpetual poverty to being a contributing part of their community — a life-changing event.
The Mission Possible group at Holy Trinity volunteers regularly for various community service projects including helping older residents with projects around their homes.
