Joseph Patrick “Joe” Sarsfield, age 81, of Kennesaw, passed away on Thursday, November 26, 2015.
He was born to Patrick and Nora Sarsfield, who were proud Irish immigrants that entered the country through New York with only their suitcases in hand. Joe was lovingly named after a famous Irish general and was one of two children.
After high school, he joined the U.S. Airforce and served for a number of years. Upon leaving, he obtained a degree at Capital Radio Engineering School. He was a very organized, technical person and he put his education and sharp mind to use as an instructor for Xerox. He worked there for many years in the Virginia location off of Route 7. He spent his time training technicians how to create and repair various models. Because of the unpredictable weather, he kept a spare change of clothes in his desk drawer in case he needed to stay the night.
Joe also enjoyed trap shooting, skiing, and fixing anything – from rewiring lamps to repairing his vehicles.
Joe is preceded in death by his son, Kevin Patrick; parents, Patrick and Nora Sarsfield; and long-time companion, Janet Flemming.
He is survived by his companion, Susan “Sue” Hanson; sister, Patricia “Pat” Coleman and her husband, James W. Coleman Jr.; nephews, James W. Coleman IV and Kenneth Patrick; niece, Theresa Christian; great niece and nephew, Conor and Kathleen; and Sue’s two children.
Services will be posted upon final arrangements.
