Fayette County officials announced this week the implementation of what they are calling a “state-of-the-art” 911 system which will result in “providing greater service to all citizens.”

County staff has worked in conjunction with Airbus DS, a California firm, since the beginning of 2015. The implementation of the new equipment will include future capability to receive text messages from the public and first responders and allow for enhanced data management and analytics.

“The Fayette County 911 Center is the hub for fast, effective communication between citizens and first responders throughout the county,” said Board of Commissioners Chairman Charles Oddo. “The installation of this new system will advance our emergency center’s communication to even higher possibilities.”

“I am confident knowing Fayette County is moving with great strides to provide the best service to the citizens we serve,” added county 911 director Bernard J. Brown.
