Local students awarded scholarships

Every year the U.S. Navy awards four-year Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps Scholarships to qualified high school and college students throughout the country.

These scholarships are awarded through a highly competitive national selection process.

The NROTC Scholarship Program not only provides a college education for these qualified young men, but is purposely designed to train them for service as commissioned officers in the U.S. Navy.

In recognition of their superior achievement, the Naval Service Training Command presented scholarships to Eric Cooper (Auburn University) and Kurt Wenske (University of Kansas), both graduates of Starr’s Mill High School.
