The Fayette County Board of Commissioners recognized Fire and Emergency Services Battalion Chief Jeff Hill at its Aug. 13 regular meeting for completing the Executive Fire Officer program at the National Fire Academy.

The National Fire Academy’s (NFA) Executive Fire Officer Program (EFOP) was developed in 1985 and provides fire officers with a broad perspective on various facets of fire and emergency services administration. The courses and accompanying research examine how to exercise leadership when dealing with difficult or unique problems within communities. This is a rigorous four-year program of study through a series of graduate and upper-division-baccalaureate courses in executive development, leadership, management and operations. Each module lasts two weeks and the officer has six months to complete an applied research program at the completion of each course. The officer must achieve a passing grade to enroll in the next module.

In completing this program Battalion Chief Hill has been exposed to cutting edge and state-of-the-art concepts and theories that will benefit the department and his shift for years to come. The completion of this program “demonstrates his level of personal commitment and a great investment in himself,” according to county officials.
