Fayette County was well represented in the Kiwanis Art and music Showcase state finals recently in Albany.

The best in show for art was awarded to Jordan Fraser from Starr’s Mill High School, and first place in music went to Adrian Romoff who attends Konos Academy. Both of these state winners participated in the Peachtree City Kiwanis Art and music Showcase in late March, and both received an additional $3,500 scholarship in addition to the local award.

The contest in Albany brings together the local contestant winners from Georgia to participate for $15,000 of scholarship money. This year there were 100 finalists for Art and 20 musical musical/vocal contestants participating. In addition to the scholarship awards, the winners also received medallions and trophies.

The Peachtree City Kiwanis club has been doing the Art and Music Showcase for 30 years and invites any resident of Fayette County schools to participate. All age groups are represented, with the high school and middle schools participating at the state level.

In addition to the state winners, Fayette County had Max Gholston winning third place in sixth-grade art and Quiru Lin also placing third in seventh-grade art.
