The McIntosh Chiefs ran their record to 21-0 over the weekend with two big region wins and have a handful of games left before the Region 4-AAAAA tournament begins. The Chiefs traveled cross-city to Starr’s Mill Friday night and won 62-50 before a sellout crowd in a game that saw dozens of fans turned away at the gate because the gym was at capacity.

The next night was an 86-82 win over Drew, currently second in subregion A behind McIntosh, handing the Titans their second region loss.

Tuesday night the Chiefs are scheduled to host Stockbridge, the leader in subregion B, who this week cracked the AJC’s state rankings at #10 in AAAAA (McIntosh remains second behind Miller Grove).

McIntosh hosts Forest Park this Friday and has a road game next Tuesday at Mundy’s Mill, the third-ranked team in the subregion, before closing out the regular season Feb. 6 at home against Northgate.

The region tournament begins Monday, Feb. 9, at Drew High School next to Southern Regional Medical Center in Riverdale.
