Peachtree City Councilman, Clint Holland, an Army veteran and member of the American Legion, recently spoke to the members of the Sgt Clyde Thomason Medal of Honor Detachment of the Marine Corps League at their monthly meeting. Holland presented news and plans of a new Veterans Park to be built in Peachtree City. Although there is currently a veterans memorial in front of the library and City Hall in Peachtree City, the new park will be extensive and will represent all the military services of the United States Armed Forces. Holland said that input and ideas would be sought from all veteran groups interested in the park.

At the end of the presentation, Commandant David Epps of Senoia presented Councilman Holland with a challenge coin unique to the local detachment, which serves both Coweta and Fayette counties.

To be a full member of the Marine Corps League, one must be an active duty Marine or, most often, a Marine who has received an Honorable Discharge. Membership is also open to Navy corpsmen and Navy Chaplains who have served with the Fleet Marine Force. Auxiliary and associate membership is open to non-Marines who wish to support the goals of the organization and the United States Marine Corps. The detachment has a website at
mcldet1325.org.
