A Tyrone woman has been charged with 116 counts of financial identity fraud after selling the personal information of members of Georgia National Guard unit where she was employed.

Tierney A. Walker, 22, of Village Green Circle, was charged with 116 counts of financial identity fraud, according to Fayette County Sheriff Barry Babb.

Babb said Walker sold the names, Social Security numbers and dates of birth to an undercover sheriff’s investigator. The personal information belonged to members of the 1147th Transportation Company of the Ga. National Guard in LaGrange where Walker was employed, Babb said.

While Walker’s position with the Ga. National Guard was not immediately known, Babb said she had been on staff there for approximately two years.

Babb said the discovery that Walker might have personal information for sale came when investigators with the criminal investigations division of the sheriff’s office were working another case.

Once contact was made with Walker, investigators set up the buy in which she supplied the information to an undercover investigator for $500, said Babb.

“She was using her position at work to obtain financial information and sell it,” said Babb.

The information was recovered and Walker is being held in the Fayette County Jail.
