The Citizen is proud to feature exceptional student-athletes from across our community each week. Whether they’re leading their teams to victory, showing strong character on and off the field, or making steady progress in their sport, these athletes represent the very best of local youth. We celebrate their hard work, dedication, and leadership in schools, leagues, and clubs throughout Fayette and Coweta counties.
This week, we’re proud to feature these athletes:

East Coweta High School

We would like to recognize Marzani Sconyers as our Fayette County Track & Field Athlete of the Week. Marzani had an outstanding start to the season competing in the McIntosh Open (Feb. 25) and the Ryan Clark Relays (Feb. 28). At the McIntosh Open, she captured 1st Place in the 100M Hurdles, Long Jump, and Triple Jump, demonstrating her versatility and competitive drive. She followed that performance with another strong showing at the Ryan Clark Relays, earning 1st Place in the Long Jump and helping lead the girls team to a successful meet. Marzani’s hard work, dedication, and leadership continue to set the standard for our team.

“Jaiden is an outstanding young man and a very hard worker on the baseball field, weight room, and classroom. Jaiden strives to be better every single day and gives his full effort for the team. Jaiden juggles his talents in orchestra as well as his talents on the baseball field. It has been a pleasure coaching Jaiden!” – Coach Roth

Starr’s Mill High School
Grace Crockett

Despite missing most of her Junior season with a knee injury off the course, Grace has worked diligently to recover and has been the leader our team has needed this year. She is posting low scores and is leading our younger players well.

Trinity Christian School
Reese Earl
Golf
Reese has been a great leader and one of the best and most consistent players on the golf team.

Whitewater High School
Sydney Burns
Track
Sydney Burns, a standout 9th grade athlete at Whitewater High School, has quickly made a name for herself as a key contributor to the track and field team. Competing in the hurdle events as well as relays, Sydney consistently demonstrates determination, speed, and strong technique beyond her years. Her ability to stay focused under pressure and contribute to her team’s success shows both her athletic talent and her commitment to improvement. As a freshman, Sydney has already proven to be a valuable asset to Whitewater’s program, and her hard work and positive attitude make her a deserving choice for Athlete of the Week.
