A meeting to garner interest in the startup of Threshold Church. a new United Methodist Church planned for Coweta County, will be held this Saturday, Aug. 16 from 7-9 p.m. at the Newnan Carnegie Library.

Attendees will enjoy a showing of the movie “Stranger Than Fiction.” Discussion will follow. Refreshments will be provided.

Spearheading the effort is the Rev. Dr. Quincy Brown, a seasoned UMC minister and long-time pastoral leader in the North Georgia United Methodist Conference. Brown also is a resident of Newnan.

He is seeking a group of 20 to 30 people to help launch the church which is planned to open next summer.

When asked about the style of the new church, Brown said it will be blended in terms of traditional and contemporary.

“Threshold is that place between rooms. This will be the best of both worlds,” he said.

Brown plans to hold occasional community engagement programs starting in December, and preview services beginning next June. Threshold Church plans to formally open in August 2015. For more information, call 678-796-8740 or visit www.thresholdumc.org.
