The Citizen is proud to feature exceptional student-athletes from across our community each week. Whether they’re leading their teams to victory, showing strong character on and off the field, or making steady progress in their sport, these athletes represent the very best of local youth. We celebrate their hard work, dedication, and leadership in schools, leagues, and clubs throughout Fayette and Coweta counties.

This week, we’re proud to feature these athletes:

East Coweta High School

Katelyn Miller
Softball

Katelyn, a senior outfielder and strong student leader, shines both academically and athletically and will continue her softball journey at Campbell University.

Fayette County High School

Michael Whitfield
Swimming

Michael, a sophomore and second-year varsity swimmer, demonstrates an unmatched work ethic in the pool. From the moment he dives in until the time he gets out, he gives his all—constantly challenging himself to learn, improve, and grow each day. Michael strives to be 1% better with every practice, setting the standard for his teammates to push themselves as well. His encouragement and support inspire those around him to reach their full potential. Michael’s dedication in the pool extends into the classroom, where he continues to embody the Fayette Standard of ā€œExcellence in All We Do, With Tiger Pride.ā€

McIntosh High School

Gavin Tranquillo
Swimming

“Gavin jumped right into swimming with a tremendous work ethic. He comes prepared to work at every practice, is focused, receptive to help and feedback, and improves every day. He has impressed his coaches with his dedication and friendly attitude.” – Coach Neeley

Starr’s Mill High School

Jack Lynch
Swimming

In Jack’s first meet of the year, he was able to earn 3 state cut times in the 50 Free, 500 Free and the 100 Free. He was also a part of the 400 Free Relay who came in first place at the meet and qualified for state.

Trinity Christian School

Emma Kate Yeager
Swimming

Emma Kate is a phenomenal student athlete. Emma Kate shows up on time and ready to swim for every practice. She leads by example in and out of the pool. Emma Kate led the team through their first meet breaking PRS at the very first meet on the season!!

Whitewater High School

Seth Rivers
Basketball

Seth Rivers is an outstanding student-athlete for the Whitewater Boys Basketball team, known for his dedication both on and off the court. As a senior leader, he sets a strong example through his work ethic, teamwork, and commitment to improvement. His consistent shooting and dependable play make him a key contributor to the team’s success this season.
