Judy Tumlin Echols Tallent, 73, of Fayetteville, passed away April 17, 2014.

After her birth at Ft. Benning, Ga., Judy Anne Tumlin Tallent spent her early years moving often across the country with her military family.

She loved hunting and fishing, horseback riding, water skiing and camping with family and spent many summers in Quitman and Doerun, Ga. with relatives. She was remembered as “best batter” on Army baseball teams and being the only “girl” to play. She loved basketball and was captain of the girls team at Forest Park High School her sophomore year. She graduated from high school in Tallahassee and attended FSU a short while before getting married to Norman Guy Echols.

She was preceded in death by her husband Claude Tallent.

She is survived by her sons Tim (Windy) Echols, Terry (Anna Marie) Echols, Ted (Misti) Echols, and Tommy Echols; 15 grandchildren: Emily, Joseph, John, Mary, David, Bonnie, Annie, Travis, Jonah, Hannah Claire, Ezra, Elijah, Drew, Olivia, and Isabella; and sisters Vicky Rehberg and Cindy Stouffer.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at 2 p.m. at The Rock Baptist Church, Rex. Mrs. Tallent will lie in state from1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service. Reverend Hugh Kirby will officiate. The burial will follow at The Rock Baptist Church Cemetery, Rex. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
