12th annual fishing rodeo a big success

More than 50 children participated in the 12th annual Fayette County Youth Fishing Rodeo Aug. 10 at the Luther Glass Park located in Peachtree City. 

Fifty-three youngsters participated in the free event, which was organized by the Peachtree City Bass Anglers in conjunction with the Peachtree City Recreation & Special Events Department and the Southern Conservation Trust. Event organizers provided fishing poles, buckets and bait to hot dogs and drinks. Every participant received a goody bag.

Participants were divided into three age groups and competed for awards for the total weight of fish caught. Winners in each category were:

• 5-7 year olds Shawn Sawer, 1st place, 1.10 lbs.; Taylor Oldham, 2nd, .85 lbs; Braden Dunham, 3rd .66 lbs.; and Ryan Gasken, 4th, .63 lbs.

• 8 – 10 year olds Mary Faught, 1st place, 2.02 lbs.; Even Gizelbach, 2nd, 1.15 lbs.; Joey Hawthorne, 3rd, .66 lbs.; and Coleman Cambell, 4th, .51 lbs.

• 11 – 13 Year olds: P.J. Shukstor, 1st place, 1.10 lbs.; 2nd Place Iain Hemenway, .74 lbs.; Elese Allen, 3rd, .67 lbs.; and Beka Algaze, 4th, .52 lbs.
