The Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation awarded over $20,000 worth of equipment to the Peachtree City Fire and Rescue Department recently at the restaurant at 226 Newnan Crossing Bypass in Newnan.
Attendees included local firefighters, Firehouse Subs franchisee Bhumika Patel, franchisee area representative Shawn Hooks and Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation coordinator Jacquelyn Gubbins.
“We want to support first responders and give them whatever they need to protect the city and save lives, and that’s really what our foundation is all about,” Gubbins said.
This generous donation will cover the cost of over $20,000 worth of dry suits and other essential equipment for the swift water rescue team, providing them with the proper level of personal protective equipment necessary to respond to all types of water rescue scenarios, fire department officials said.
In 2005, Firehouse Subs created the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation with the mission of providing funding, life-saving equipment and educational opportunities to first-responders and public safety organizations. Through the non-profit 501(c)(3), Firehouse Subs has given $5.7 million to hometown heroes in 36 states and Puerto Rico, including more than $580,800 in Georgia.
Each restaurant recycles leftover, five-gallon pickle buckets and sells them to guests for $2. Donation canisters on register counters explain the non-profit’s mission and collect spare change, while the round-up program allows guests to “round up” their bill to the nearest dollar. All funds raised benefit the foundation.
