Power restored in southeast Fayetteville

A one-vehicle crash took down a power pole at Dennis Drive and Bradley Drive in Fayetteville in the early morning hours of Dec. 26, blacking out whole neighborhoods southeast of downtown, according to information posted by the Fayetteville Police Department Tuesday.

Electrical service was mostly restored after midday Tuesday. The outage shut down the Fayette Senior Services Center, causing all activities to be cancelled for the day.

With downed wires, “power outages have been reported from Bradley Drive towards Ramah Road and even as far as Hilo Road” from the early morning hours through Tuesday morning, police said. Temperatures were hovering around freezing until after daybreak, and many homes were without power to run their heating systems.

“Georgia Power and EMC have been working to restore power in area. We were informed that, due to the damages, they will have to replace the entire power pole. It may take up to eight hours before power can be restored,” police said earlier Tuesday morning.
