Booth Warrior Times wins at Press Association awards

The Booth Warrior Times, the online newspaper of J.C. Booth Middle School, has a staff filled with promising journalists, and their efforts were recognized at the Georgia Scholastic Press Association 2021 Spring Awards.

Marlee Rafter earned an All-Georgia Award for her feature profile, “Heather ‘Lucky’ Penney, Fighter Pilot.”

Sophie Thompson, Warrior Times Editor-in-Chief, also earned Honorable Mention. Thompson was integral to the “Lucky” Penney story, crafting the questions and conducting the interview.

The staff as a whole earned a Superior rating for General Excellence in Broadcast and an Excellent rating for General Excellence in News Website.

The staff of the Booth Warrior Times online newspaper is Sophia Oliver, Sophie Thompson, Mary-Anne Burnett, Marlee Rafter, Clarence Jackson, Annalise Cuppari, Hastee Mehdipour, Zoura Chan, Hayoung Kim, and Amanda Agnos.

They are led by advisor Colleen Johnson.
