Grandfather, 83, stabbed; grandson charged with assault

A Fayetteville man is in custody after allegedly stabbing his 83-year-old grandfather during an argument.

According to Sheriff Barry Babb, deputies were dispatched the morning of Jan. 31 to a residence on Brandon Mill Circle in a subdivision on the north side of Fayetteville. They discovered that there had been an argument between two family members and one of them had been stabbed, causing severe injuries.

The victim was taken eventually to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, where he remains in serious condition.

Corey Michael White, 26, of Fayetteville was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm/knife during commission of a crime, and elder abuse. The latter charge was added because the victim is a senior adult, in this case the suspect’s 83-year-old grandfather.
