The local impact of Hurricane Isaac is expected to be “minimal” according to forecasters at the National Weather Service’s Atlanta office in Peachtree City Tuesday afternoon.
The storm will bring 1-3 inches of rain through early Thursday, but no high winds or other side effects are expected in north and central Georgia, according to NWS forecasters.
More rain is expected through the weekend, however, with showers and thunderstorms not directly attributable to Isaac, officials said.
Although the remote possibility of tornados remains because the outer bands of Isaac will go through north and central Georgia, the likelihood of tornados forming is low, forecasters said.
The potential for any flooding is minimal because of the drought, forecasters have noted.
Although no severe weather is expected from Isaac, the National Weather Service is urging local residents to take time to make sure you and your family are prepared in case a disaster strikes in the future.
