Peachtree City is working towards the installation of “wayfinding” signs that will point to the city’s amphitheater, welcome center and senior citizen center.
All three are tucked off McIntosh Trail/Kelly Drive, off the beaten path for most out of town visitors who may want to stop by and catch a concert, learn more about the city or see its recreational offerings for older adults.
Thus, the directional signs will be erected on Ga. Highway 74, Peachtree Parkway and on Ga. Highway 54 as well.
With the concept approved by council Thursday night, city staff will proceed with getting bids from companies to produce and install the signs, said City Planner David Rast.
The cost will be covered with funds leftover from state proceeds following the widening of Ga. Highway 74 south from two to four lanes, a process that resulted in the city losing some acreage and signage in front of the city’s baseball and soccer complex (BSC) as well as other small portions of city-owned property, Rast noted.
Two of the six signs will be erected on Peachtree Parkway north and south of the McIntosh Trail intersection; two others will be put on Hwy. 54 both east and west of Peachtree Parkway and the last two will be erected on Hwy. 74 both north and south of Kelly Drive/McIntosh Trail.
