A low bid of $2.69 million was approved by the Peachtree City Council Thursday to pave a number of city streets.
Some $2.04 million will be covered by the city’s remaining revenues from the 2003 countywide transportation sales tax. The state is also providing $469,633 in funding.
Blount’s bid undercut the next-highest bidder C.W. Matthews by $77,000.
The bid includes paving, striping, guardrail installation and drainage improvements for Dividend Drive, Kelly Green, Loblolly Circle, Hilltop Drive (from Hippocket to Willow Road), Clover Reach (from Clover Green to Ga. Highway 74), Morallion Hills, Southwick Lane, North Peachtree Parkway (from Ga. Highway 54 to Hwy. 74) and Wisdom Road.
The work on Dividend will include additional striping to create a bike lane as requested by council, said Public Services Director Mark Caspar. The roadbed is plenty wide and will not require expansion to add the bike lanes, Caspar said.
The repaving process will use full depth reclamation, which rehabilitates the entire base of the road, which should last 10 years and make future repairs much easier, Caspar said.

Some $177,000 in funding is also coming from the city’s stormwater utility to fund drainage improvements along the city streets.
