Burglar interrupted at apartment, but gets arrested inside the complex

A would-be burglar was apprehended in a Peachtree City apartment complex after being interrupted by a victim and attempting to get away.

According to reports, police responded March 8 to a Cobblestone Creek residence in reference to a burglary in progress. Upon meeting with the complainant, officers confirmed a burglary had taken place and the suspect had fled the scene.

After getting a description of the suspect, police learned that she was in a vehicle in the apartment complex and eventually located the suspect. Abigail Glaize, 30, of Fairburn was arrested on a felony burglary charge.

Elsewhere in Peachtree City, two incidents of computer-related theft took place with a couple of hours of each other and were reported to police.

Officers responded March 8 to a residence on Sauterne Way where a victim reported that he had been scammed out of $3,000 from an unknown person over the phone. The victim said his desktop computer had been hacked that morning, and he called what he thought was a number at Microsoft as instructed.

In a separate incident, officers went to a residence March 8 in reference to a theft complaint. The complainant reported a family member had fallen victim to a scam, following instructions from her computer to contact Microsoft to resolve a problem. The victim ultimately learned that she had purchased five Home Depot gift cards with a total value of $5,000.

A March 9 traffic stop was made on Hwy. 54 near Planterra Way due to fraudulent temporary license plates. During the stop, the driver actively resisted arrest, according to a police report, before being successfully apprehended. Tyrance Russell, 46, was charged with obstructing or hindering law enforcement.

A criminal trespass call was answered March 10 on North Fairfield Drive, and police determined that an offender who had been given a criminal trespass warning in November was in the residence in question. Jose Garcia, 33, of Sharpsburg was arrested on that charge.

Police responded to a store on Commerce Drive and were told that a customer had entered on two separate occasions and purchased items with bad checks. The store made multiple attempt to retrieve the merchandise or have the payments honored, and the customer ultimately ceased all communications with the business. Felony theft by deception warrants were taken against Dustin Railey, 34, according to a police report.
